Dr. Hassoun has over 30 years of high-tech industrial, academic, intellectual property, entrepreneurship, and innovation experience. He has founded, co-founded, launched, and managed multiple VC and privately funded technology startups over the last 22 years and has been involved in successful exit strategies with several of them, participating on both sides of mergers and acquisitions. Marwan was also involved in funding research at several universities. He has served as a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at both Iowa State University and Tufts University and has served as an external advisor for PhD students at the University of Texas at Austin. He currently is part of the MIT Sandbox and UM6P Explorer programs helping early-stage entrepreneurs and startups from the MIT and the UM6P echo systems.
Marwan earned his BS from South Dakota State University and his MS and PhD from Purdue University in Electrical Engineering. He is a named inventor on 50+ US and international patents and has been focused on advising technology companies, especially startups, and law firms on technology and IP strategies including methodologies for maximizing the return on investment of their intellectual property, patents, and trade secrets.
